Efeito da terapia manual sobre a ansiedade e qualidade do sono em indivíduos com disfunção temporomandibular

Resumo

Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito da terapia manual (TM) sobre o controle da ansiedade e da melhora da qualidade do sono de indivíduos com DTM muscular e mista. Métodos: Estudo do tipo antes e depois com amostra de 20 indivíduos que foram submetidos a sessões de terapia manual. Para o diagnóstico de DTM foi utilizado o Research Diagnostic Criteria (RDC), para avaliação da ansiedade foi utilizado o Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) e para a avaliação da qualidade do sono foi utilizado o Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Resultados: Expressos em [Mediana (Iq)] e p valor (Wilcoxon). Foi observado redução do escore de ansiedade inicial [9,50 (6,00-12,00)] e final [8,00 (5,00-12,00)] e melhora nos escores da qualidade do sono,   inicial de [9,00 (8,00- 12,75)] final de [5,00(2,25- 7,75)], p valor 0,002 e 0,000 respectivamente. Além disso, houve uma correlação fraca e positiva entre qualidade do sono e ansiedade, (r=0,468, n=20, p=0,037). Conclusão: No presente estudo foi observado que a terapia manual diminuiu a ansiedade e melhorou a qualidade do sono de indivíduos com DTM muscular e mista.
