Implantação precoce dos cuidados paliativos no pronto-socorro: revisão integrativa

Resumo

Descrever os benefícios da implantação precoce de cuidados paliativos (CP) para pacientes admitidos em unidades de urgência e emergência. Revisão integrativa norteada pela pergunta “Quais os benefícios da implementação precoce de CP aos pacientes nos serviços de emergência?”. A coleta foi realizada nas bases LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF, Scopus e Scielo. Foram selecionados 12 artigos. A implantação precoce dos CP aos pacientes nos serviços de emergência apresenta benefícios na qualidade de vida, na garantia de tratamento adequado ao controle de sintomas, na redução do tempo de estadia e de espera, diminuição de custos e melhoria no fluxo de atendimento. Apesar disso, a percepção de CP como cuidados de fim de vida ainda é uma barreira. O estabelecimento precoce de CP através dos serviços de emergência apresenta benefícios para o sistema de saúde e seus usuários. É necessária a ampliação desse debate a fim de desconstruir o estigma sobre a temática.
