Fatores associados à osteoporose em idosos: um estudo transversal

O objetivo foi analisar a associação entre fatores sociodemográficos, comportamentais e de saúde com a osteoporose em idosos residentes em domicílio. Todos os participantes responderam um questionário estruturado composto por informações sociodemográficas, comportamentais e de saúde. A osteoporose foi autorrelatada pelos idosos. Para avaliar os fatores associados com a osteoporose foi utilizado o teste qui-quadrado e realizadas análises brutas e ajustadas por meio da regressão de Poisson, utilizando modelo hierárquico. O valor de p≤0,05 foi adotado como estatisticamente significante. A prevalência de osteoporose foi de 9,4% (n=39). Na análise multivariada observou-se associação significativa entre sexo feminino (p=0,004), ingestão de bebida alcóolica (p=0,011), consumo de três ou mais medicamentos (p=0,025), massa muscular reduzida (p=0,020) e qualidade do sono ruim/ou muito ruim (p=0,018) com a osteoporose. Nossos resultados demonstraram associação com vários fatores comportamentais e de saúde com a osteoporose em idosos, reafirmando a necessidade de preservação de um estilo de vida saudável e fisicamente ativo nessa população.
